Manchester derby: Teams dont fear going to Old Trafford anymore, says Manchester City legend Shaun Goater
Manchester United have lost the fear factor of Old Trafford, according to Manchester City legend Shaun Goater. The neighbouring rivals will go head-to-head in the latest Manchester derby on Wednesday night, in a game which presents jeopardy for both sides.A win for United would keep their top-four hopes alive, while City are looking to claim their 11th league win in a row to maintain their title challenge. The Manchester rivals last meeting, earlier this season, ended in a 3-1 win to City2

But Red Devils fans are facing an additional dilemma ahead of the clash, as beating City at Old Trafford could well hand the Premier League crown to old foes Liverpool. For Goater, though, that outcome is unlikely.

The former City striker, who famously robbed Gary Neville of possession in 2002 before scoring a derby goal, says teams no longer fear going to United as they used to under Sir Alex Ferguson, and he is confident Pep Guardiolas men will be the dominant side at the Theatre of Dreams. The stats support his view: Manchester City have lost just once in past seven visits to their biggest rivals. I dont think teams fear going to Old Trafford anymore, Goater said on Wednesdays Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast.Going to Old Trafford before, you were just happy to come away with a draw if you could. They were so dominant in Sir Alex Fergusons time. You were pelted with chances, you had to defend and youd end up walking away saying: We got away with one there, we only lost 4-1!But now, we have seen teams go there and dominate and you just think, why are these teams dominating Man United at Man United? And its not right just to put it down to Jose Mourinhos time. It makes you think, is this just Man United now?Man United were thumped 4-0 by Everton in their preview Premier League game2

Its changed, its just changed. In recent years City have gone there and have pretty much been dominant, so I think the players will be buoyant and upbeat and will have a real belief they can see this game through. But United players will be thinking: No, not today. After what happened against Everton [losing 4-0 at Goodison Park on Sunday], there has to be a reaction. They will want to put on a good performance and prove they are playing for the badge.
