Tottenham should wait until NEXT SEASON to move into their new stadium, says Sam Allardyce
Sam Allardyce has warned Tottenham their season could be derailed by their new stadium move, and has urged the club to stick out the rest of the campaign at Wembley.Spurs have encountered more delays in the opening of the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and now expect to move in in February.Inside Tottenham Hotspur’s new stadium on December 12.3

But Allardyce says it would be a bad move if the club played in the newly-built home ground this term.Tottenham currently sit third in the Premier League table and this week sealed their place in the Champions League last 16.But Big Sam has warned Spurs they could experience similar problems to when they first moved into Wembley, saying they may struggle to get used to their new surroundings which may then affect their performances on the pitch.Speaking on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast, the former England manager said: If I was Mauricio, and Im not, I would say to [chairman] Daniel Levy: I do not want to move from Wembley until next season.Tottenham have been waiting patiently for their new stadium3
Tottenham have been waiting patiently for their new stadium
You walk straight into another new stadium, and while it’s on the same piece of land its all brand new, so the familiarity is missing.Spurs suffered badly when they started playing at Wembley, but now theyve come to terms with it and are playing much better. If they go back to Tottenham they face the same problem with the surroundings again and they could well suffer heavily just because of that.Sam Allardyce believes moving to their new stadium may upset Tottenham’s season3

I think Mauricio has to be strong and say to Daniel Levy: I want to stay at Wembley. The team is going well and you didnt buy me any players in the summer, so please allow me to.Personally I think its a bad move.Any club that has moved into a new stadium, West Ham moving into the London Stadium had the same problems, Bolton had the same problems when they moved into the Reebok. Its a big decision in terms of the players. With dwindling attendances, it seems fans are likely to disagree with Allardyce’s opinion and Danny Rose has already said he and his team-mates are ‘itching’ to get into the new ground.“Were disappointed its taken longer than expected but we know everybodys putting in the hours to make sure the stadiums as good as possible,” he said. Its not that much longer now, so hopefully over the next couple of months were going to be in there and we all sympathise with the fans.We just have to stick together now. We know its not going to be too much longer. The [Wembley] atmospheres a bit flat. Obviously I sympathise with the fans, travelling a bit further away to come.”
